Gordhan mulling legal options as he fights report recommending SIU probe into failed SAA-Takatso deal

CAPE TOWN - Minister Pravin Gordhan is still considering his legal options as he fights a report recommending a Special Investigating Unit (SIU) probe into the failed South African Airways (SAA) and Takatso deal.
The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) also says it’s business as usual at SAA, which continues to expand operations despite the failure of the majority sale and the injection of R3 billion.
Members of Parliament said Gordhan may approach the court provided he funds his legal costs.
Now that the public enterprises committee has adopted its report, it will now be adopted by Parliament.

Once the house adopts the report, the committee’s request for an SIU investigation will be considered by the acting speaker.
But the Department of Public Enterprises spokesperson Ellis Mnyandu says they still plan to challenge the report.
"We said the DPE will protect its integrity using all legal avenues available to it."
Mnyandu also says SAA continues to operate without any hitches and Gordhan has reassured its employees that the airline is going nowhere.
